Straw logs are a farm grown, alternative, solid fuel produced on the Isle of Wight. Release the Islands summer sunshine into your home this winter by burning Fuel Britannia Straw Logs.
Fuel Britannia Straw Logs are a solid fuel made from 100% British Biomass. These Environmentally friendly, farm grown sustainable heat logs offer an annually renewable alternative to coal, charcoal or wood as a summer or winter fuel. They are being launched in the Autumn of 2009 to offer an alternative to coal or fire wood for summer or winter heating.
Straw Logs, or straw pellets, are a true biofuel and these ecologs offer a green solution to the food –v- fuel debate. Fuel Britannia Straw Logs are produced from the renewable agricultural by-product of a commercial farming operation. From Field to Fuel these Botanical Heat logs offer an all natural, environmentally friendly fire log.
Wheat grown for the UK bread industry, peas for processing and Oilseed rape for locally coldpressed rape seed oil ‘Oil of Wight’ all leave a straw by-product following harvest of the grain or seed.

Whether the straw is allowed to decompose in the field, or is burnt as a fuel, the same amount of CO2 is released to the atmosphere. The following years crops reabsorb the equivalent CO2 creating a carbon neutral growth cycle.
Please click here to download growth cycleThe carbon cycle for straw logs is the shortest of all available fuels. The carbon is recycled within one year compared to 5 to 150 years for wood or the 500 million year old carbon released from Fossil Fuels. Fuel Britannia Straw Logs therefore do not increase the amount of ancient trapped carbon being released to the atmosphere to contribute to greenhouse gases.
